Tik Tok Unveils A $200 Million Support For Its Content Creators

Tik Tok is bolstering its support for content creators. As we all know, you could make a living by being an influencer on Tik Tok. They have devised an elaborate payment scheme for its top content creators. Tik Tok has just recently announced that they will be opening a $200 million fund to lure more content creators in their platform.

Here’s the rundown of their plans.

Cash Support

As we have discussed in the previous articles, influencers on the platform could only earn from live streams and brand partnerships. Tik Tok switched gears in the past week, citing cash assistance for its content creators. They mentioned that it is dedicated for its passionate content creators:

“help support ambitious creators who are seeking opportunities to foster a livelihood through their innovative content.”

The growing company aims to deliver cash assistance to targeted content creators during the latter part of the year. There are no clear guidelines for the disbursement of the assistance but Tik Tok has specified their criteria.

How Do You Qualify?

Currently, the assistance only applies to content creators aged 18 and above in the United States. The content creators’ videos must be original and follow Tik Tok’s content guidelines. For the amount, the platform has said that there might be more funds coming in. The $200 million sum is just the beginning.

Applications for the cash support will begin as early as August 2020.

Security Risks and Shut Down Issues

Tik Tok has ensured different measures to comply with the U.S’ guidelines. News broke out early this month that Tik Tok might get shut down in the United States as it was considered a security threat to the country.

As a solution, Tik Tok has planned to create more than 10,000 jobs in the United States over the course of 3 years. They have also distanced themselves from their parent company. Tik Tok has hired an American CEO and considers a corporate restructuring. The restructuring entails establishing a headquarters for the platform outside of China.
