The pandemic made each non-cohabiting couple, a long-distance one—and considerably put a stop to a large number of blooming sentiments.
When staying at home was the only means of controlling the spread of COVID-19, we were subjected to this abnormality of seclusion. For some people who were bound in their homes, the physical location of their being had flattened into a binary of “here” and “not here.”
Any individual who didn’t live with you in your house was accessible only through telephone or video chats. Regardless of whether there were 5,000 miles between you or simply a couple of city blocks.
This had more ruthless ramifications for people who were in the beginning stages of their relationships. Instead of being able to take their relationships forward, they were subjected to this halt. Not only did COVID-19 halt their busy professional lives, but it also put a pause on their personal lives.
Now Comes in Oren with Crowdsource Match Making!
Instagram hotshot, Oren Aks, shared a meme on his page ridiculing dating apps and got many responses that led him to help out humankind in this dire time. He came up with this cool idea of crowdsourcing matchmaking through friends. This is basically socializing the old fashion way but with a modern twist with social media using influencers!
The best part is that anyone can do it on their very own social media page for themselves or for a friend. In the era of covid-19 where dating is practically impossible or is just hopeless, Oren wanted to help people out.
Oren came up with the brilliant idea of experimenting on his IG story (@orenjous). Asking if people would be open to having their photos posted on his IG story with some very basic info about them. And if someone is interested in them, he would connect them. Like any good friend would do-if only both people are interested.
This cool idea became wildly successful. With hundreds of daily submissions at first in LA and NYC, but almost instantly it grew to be worldwide.
If we can crowdsource love for at least one couple, we will be able to bring some love into 2020. That alone is an amazing thing during such hard times. So, head on over to Oren’s Instagram page. Drop your picture with some basic info or find someone you find attractive. Help your friends out and share the love!
The Business Of Online Dating
Prior to the pandemic, the online dating scene was already dismantling. The downloads for the top 15 dating applications were going down around the world. Research statistics concluded that all that swiping simply made people lonelier.
Be that as it may, even the numbers for video chatting are going down. People do not want to have a virtual relationship. They tend to lose interest and let go. This succumbs them towards loneliness.
That sort of conclusion is negatively affecting some dating applications. Simply take Match Group, owner of mainstream applications like Tinder, Hinge, and PlentyOfFish.
Even though usage and engagement numbers have been on the ascent since the beginning of the pandemic. In April, the organization began to see a slight decrease in subscriber development. Its normal income per client was at an embarrassing level.
The pattern isn’t too astonishing, given as there’s less of a motivation to pay for features, or join an application.
And because of that, the idea of crowdsourcing matchmaking is spreading wildly. It’s new, it’s futuristic and trendy. It is helping bring back the good old days in a modern way. So, head on over to Oren’s Instagram and help a friend out. Spread some love in 2020!
