These Are the Daily Routines of History’s Most Popular Entrepreneurs

Every popular person or organization has that “thing” that made them into what they are now. Google for example started out in a garage. Blockbuster mocked Netflix by selling themselves for “too high of a price” because no one thought everything would go digital. Here are four daily routines of the most influential figures in the history of mankind. Maybe you could learn a thing or two from them!

Elon Musk

Tesla and SpaceX CEO has an extremely demanding daily routine. We have 168 hours in a week, Musk spends half of it working back and forth between his two companies, SpaceX in Los Angeles on Mondays and Fridays, while Tesla in the Bay Area in the middle of the week. On average, Musk said in a reddit “Ask Me Anything” that he sleeps for an average of six hours every night.

The Billionaire CEO also doesn’t have that much time for anything other than work that he does not eat breakfast sometimes and eats his lunch within five minutes for the sake of what he calls “Batching” or “Time Blocking” for some. Basically, it allows Musk to focus on the tasks he needs to accomplish by creating five-minute blocks/batches. In this way, he is able to plan out his day without getting distracted.

Musk calls it a day at around 1 A.M every night, just a few hours before a whole new cycle starts.

Jeff Bezos

World’s Richest, Jeff Bezos has a different philosophy on the other hand. He gets to bed early and rises early. He calls his mornings his “puttering’ time. He spends time with his kids, reads the newspaper, cooks, and does the dishes. He says that doing all these help with his creativity.

He is also a believer that his brain is the most powerful at 10 A.M. He reserves this time for the most important, most-mentally challenging meetings. He also believes that decisions must be made before 5 P.M. Why? Because he wants to avoid decision fatigue, or making subpar decisions because the mind is already too tired.

Benjamin Franklin

He is considered as one of U.S.A’s Founding Fathers. He is known across multiple disciplines such as Philosophy, Physics, Economics, and Politics among other fields. For a man that seems to be involved in a lot of things, he surely has one of the most specific daily routines.

Using a chart, he sets specific time for the activities he comes up with. He allots time for preparation, meals, study, account review, and even music! The most notable detail in his routine could be the morning and evening questions he asks himself. When he rises, he begins the day by asking “What good shall I do today?” and before bed he asks: “What good have I done today?”.

Jack Dorsey

This time around, it’s all going to look the same as what Elon Musk does daily. Jack Dorsey is the CEO of Twitter and Square. It’s unsurprising that for some time in the previous years, he tried (and perhaps succeeded) in running the company eight hours each DAILY. Yes, you heard that right, working everyday for 16 hours. But he said that it was short lived.

Dorsey admits that he has now focused his attention to Square, a mobile payments company. He also said that assigning themes per workday helps him in getting more creative when working:

Monday: Company Management
Tuesday: Product Development
Wednesday: Marketing, Communications, Growth
Thursday: Partnerships
Thursday: Partnerships
Friday: Culture and Recruitment

Different people have different styles in conquering their workdays and the deliverables that come with it. Just look at the billions of dollars they have made and the influence they have established. How about you, what are some of your daily routines that help you in succeeding?
