It has become normal for social media personalities to team up and make their own group. This enables them more flexibility and allows them to create more diverse and creative content. They’re basically forming a network that also allows their fans to link up, effectively increasing their influence and following. We all saw this trend when Jake Paul established Team 10 and their Team 10 House; a “social media” incubator slash management company that allows budding content creators to grow with the team.
In what’s currently the most popular social media platform, another frenzy has been making rounds. Hype House is a collective group of Tiktok stars that collaborate together around the clock. A collective that reminds most people of Team 10.
The Rise and Fall of Team 10
As mentioned above, Team 10 is a social media incubator and a management company started by Jake Paul, a famous internet celebrity. Paul states that what he aims to be is like Dr. Dre, in the sense that he’s going to help others achieve success. As a matter of fact, he indeed had success in creating buzz, helping his teammates reach success. However, things seemed short-lived.
Despite being an internet sensation when it started in 2016, Team 10 has gone under the radar since 2018 with their last youtube post dating back in July 2019. The history of the team has since become a complex issue up until today. In 2018, Paul issued a statement that said Team 10 is already gone. This was brought up after most members (both old and new) started leaving the house after stating that they have irreconcilable differences. No one has a clue what will happen next with the label, with some speculating that a comeback might take place soon.
A New Collective Joins the Bandwagon
Hype House is a new collective that seems to be reminiscent of the old Team 10. Comprised of Tiktok stars, the new collective introduced themselves to the world in December 2019. Hype House was the brainchild of Chase Hudson, a famous Tiktok artist, and Thomas Petrou, a youtube star (formerly a part of Team 10.)
Their Headquarters are a no joke either, it’s an old Spanish-style mansion with a swimming pool, massive rooms, and basically, anything and everything that a content creator would need. It also helps its members since they need a lot, I mean A LOT of space to film content in.
Some members live in the giant mansion full time. Alex Thomas, being the oldest is in charge of taking care of everyone around him, he also acts as a talent scout. He said that the Hype House is a productivity place for content creators. There are a couple of strict rules, too. Everyone has to constantly produce content, friends are allowed but are not allowed to party inside the complex, and one of the funniest but most reasonable: You have to replace an object that you broke within 15 days. But, unlike Team 10, Hype House doesn’t take a cut out of its creators’ earnings.

Hype House has been marred with controversies during its young career as a collective group. Charli D’Amelio, the most followed Tiktok star admitted in an interview that Hype House has turned into a business, leading her and her older sister to leave. Daisy Keech, one of the first members, has announced her departure after drama unraveled with Alex Thomas and Kouvr Annon.
The sky’s the limit for these young people. It definitely is one of the coolest implementations of a collective house for content creators. This certainly could become exponentially bigger and more successful than Team 10, as long as they don’t go down the wrong path.
