Truly, the pandemic has been a challenge for everyone. It casts a spell on everyone which renders us hopeless sometimes. We sometimes get stuck in our houses with no clear date when the pandemic will end. To aid all entrepreneurs out there, here are five tips to protect your mental health amidst the pandemic.
Exercise and Move Around
Yes, you need to get moving. Move your muscles from time to time. There have been multiple “Quarantine workouts” going viral lately and you could try those out. Getting a quick workout allows you to clear your mind and get your blood pumping.
Even if you have no work or activities, make sure you sneak a quick workout daily or every other day. Trust us, you will be feeling better afterward. Sweat those stressful thoughts away.
Do not Fixate on Sleep
Yes, you heard us right. Sometimes, we tend to sleep away our stress especially when we are stuck at home doing nothing. Having nothing to do and lying in bed could be harmful to your mental health. If you’ve been lying in bed for the past 15 minutes with no sleep in sight, stand up and do something else. You could read a book, listen to music, or watch TV.
Changing your mental channel is a must especially when you feel anxious.
Be Kind To Yourself
We think “It’s not a race; it’s a marathon” fits well here. This saying applies to your life as an entrepreneur and to your personal life. During these trying times, remember that accomplishing small things is a big achievement.
Movement is limited due to the virus. Others may achieve a lot during the pandemic. Do not feel bad about idling or accomplishing small and menial achievements. These are achievements too no matter how small it is for you. Do not compare your achievements during these times to others. You have a lot of things to do when the pandemic passes, you will succeed.
Learn A New Hobby or Skill
You can also take this time to learn a new skill or relive your old hobbies. There are a lot of self-help books out there to teach you a new language. You can also focus on the hobbies that you haven’t done in the past years. You do not know how exciting it is to do something that you haven’t done in a long time.
It also helps you in building your daily routine during the pandemic. For example, at the end each day, you could spend an hour or two learning new skills or doing your hobby. Do anything to take your mind of things.
Take it One Step At A Time
This is related to item #3. The small steps you make during the pandemic matters. Baby steps are steps in the right direction too. Others might make a giant leap amidst the pandemic, but it’s not the same case for all. Take your time in achieving peace.
Look at it as a springboard for your success. Take time to rest and feel at peace during these times. After the pandemic, use the learnings that you have realized to propel your business farther.
These are just some of our recommendations. The most important part of this list is that we all realize that there are a lot of ways to deal with the current situation. Others might have other ways to guard their mental health amidst the pandemic, and that’s completely fine. If you want to read more health tips for entrepreneurs, read here.
