This article will provide you with a step-by-step plan for becoming an online influencer and making passive income.
Being an influencer is a job title that everyone wants now, but no one talks about what it actually takes to become an influencer.
If you are here because you want to become financially free, then don’t stop reading until the end of this article.
It takes a lot of work, time, and hustle to become an online influencer. There are no shortcuts.
What is an Online Influencer?
Simply put, an online influencer is someone who gets paid to maintain a social media account.
Pop stars, movie stars, and athletes can make millions instantly by getting an endorsement deal with Nike shoes or Apple products. You may also be familiar with YouTube sensations like Casey Neistat and Pewdiepie, who are paid handsomely to create entertaining and engaging content.
Influencers can be bloggers, podcasters, video game streamers, YouTubers, etc. The sky is the limit with this job title as long as you are creating engaging content that people love to watch or listen to.
What You Will Need To Become An Online Influencer
To become an online influencer, you will need a social media account(s). These can be Instagram accounts, Facebook pages, or YouTube channels. The process for becoming an online influencer is different depending on the platform that you choose to use.
After choosing which platform you want to use, start by creating your profile and fill out all of the details about yourself so that people can know who you are and what your interests are.
You may also want to get a custom URL with your name instead of a free one since this will be the first thing that people see when they visit your profile. Make sure to have a lot of “eye candy” in your banner as well as your profile picture.
What You Will Need To Make Passive Income As An Online Influencer
To make passive income as an online influencer, you will need to create engaging content that people want to watch or listen to. This can be in the form of daily videos, photo blogs, podcast episodes, or live streams. The type of content you choose to create is up to you, but it needs to be content that makes people happy and looks forward to watching regularly.
Making money isn’t easy and earning a living from online comedy takes time if you don’t know what you are doing.
You have probably heard of internet sensations like Pewdiepie, who can earn $15 million per year by playing video games, but this is not realistic for 99% of people. To make decent money as an online influencer, you will have to put in the hours and work.
In your initial stages, you may only be able to make $100 per month from YouTube ads with your channel, but over time if the content keeps getting better, you can earn thousands a month or even more by increasing monthly views.
You could also get paid directly by brands that want to sell their products through your social media page/accounts. This would require some negotiation on your part, so it’s best if you look into starting up a Patreon account instead because it’s easier to manage payments for patrons and leave room for the long-term growth of your income source. It all depends on how hard you are willing to work.
If this seems like a lot of work, that’s because it is. If you have a job where you make hundreds of dollars or more per hour and want to leave it for something new, then the good news is that working as an online influencer can make you money quickly and easily with little to no investment at all. Here are some examples of possible passive income streams:
Brand Deals (paid by companies directly) Affiliate Links (paid by Amazon, Youtube, other platforms, etc.) Merchandise (teespring or redbubble) Patreon Sponsorships (monthly support from fans [patrons]) Subscriptions/Memberships/Perks
In most of these cases, you are creating content that people will enjoy watching regardless of whether or not they decide to give you money for it. When companies try to force their brand onto your content, this is no longer a passive income stream and should be avoided.
Content That Will Earn You Passive Income
Is funny, entertaining, and engaging. The more views you get, the more money you can earn on YouTube by getting AdSense ads displayed frequently. Suppose they are good quality videos with awesome titles and thumbnail pics, then even better! It’s best if the main focus of your blog/YouTube channel/podcast etc.
Don’t make your channel about a single brand or product.
That’s not to say that you can’t do sponsored videos or add affiliate links to your content, but it should be about the funny and entertaining information that you give out for free. You can still link out to products in these videos since people will know what they are watching has value.
For example, if you are making videos on fixing computers, then leave links out if they help with your video. Also, use keywords that people would search for when typing in questions into YouTube video searches, but don’t fool spam users by doing this excessively, or you risk getting banned from Adsense ads forever (which is a real thing).
If you do this, there is a chance that the account may be taken down if your content becomes spammy, which would ruin any hope of having a long-term career in online comedy.
How Long Will It Take To Earn Passive Income?
To earn a full-time income as an online influencer, you will likely have to put in your hours. It’s up to you if you want to make videos about the process and do paid work for companies or not. Some people prefer just letting their content speak for itself because they don’t want brands telling them what to do with their free time, which is perfectly reasonable.
If you are getting started now, it could take years before you eventually see anything worth noting on your bank statements from your efforts as a comedian/YouTuber/podcaster, etcetera.
This usually happens around age 25-30 when most individuals reach a stable level of career security. Whether this means paying off student loans or being able to stop working at a job you hate depends on what your ultimate goals are.
If you’d rather not wait for years only to see a small income coming in then, it’s best that you start getting creative and make some content related to online influence to make money off it.
It can take months or years before you reach your full earning potential, but people have made hundreds of dollars (daily!) from just posting funny vlogs on YouTube so it’s well worth investing time into if there is even the smallest chance that this endeavor could pay off big time down the road.
