There are a lot (I mean A LOT) of ways to market your business. No matter how outdated email is for some, it still remains a goldmine of untapped potential for marketing. Some target audience may become a regular purchasing customer after they encounter an email marketing campaign. Still not impressed? Here are five great ways to maximize email marketing for your business.
Before we start, let us first break the notion that email is outdated. According to an eMarketer study, the return of investment for email marketing is 122%. That’s four times more than any other marketing platform.
Know Your Audience
This is the most important. You won’t come across any meaningful results in your email marketing campaign if you do not know your target audience. The people on your list may have key differences. The right thing to do here is to segment your audience.
Segmenting your list and dividing it into smaller categories will allow you to tailor your campaigns for them. It will allow you to target your audience according to their personal preferences. This assures you that your audience would not ignore your campaigns because it’s not relatable to them.
Be consistent
Send personalized emails regularly. The last thing you want to happen is being called a “spammer”. The difference here is that people willingly signed up for your emails. Do not be afraid of sending constant emails to those who signed up. It just shows that you are willing to show up to people.
Spamming on the other hand is sending irrelevant emails to people all the time. But since you have already performed #1, we’re sure you won’t be spamming.
Keep It Short and Simple (KISS)
Remember the acronym “KISS”. Keep it short and simple. If people will not see the point of your email in a few seconds then it’s as good as done. They won’t continue to read your email because it’s taking too much of their time.
Keep it short and concise. At the same time, be direct to the point. The last thing we would want to happen is getting the wrong message across. The point of your email is to give a short nudge. If you pique the interest of your subscribers, then it wouldn’t be too hard for them to visit your site, know more about you, and make a purchase.
Keep a Personal Tone
No one wants to receive an email that sounds like it was pulled from a robot. In fact, keeping a friendly and personal tone on your email campaigns works better. If you have access to their first names, you might as well include them in your email. If the first name strategy works, you take it to the next level by investing in a catchy and highly personal subject line.
The key here is: Think outside the box.
Invest in a Great Subject Line
In relation to #4, invest in a good subject line. It is the first few details before opening an email. Think of it as the gate that separates your message from your customers. If you have a shady and gimmicky subject line, the chances of converting it to a sale are extremely slim.
In order to craft a good subject line, remember three key principles. First is it should be short. The limitations of the platform customers are viewing it on may affect a long subject line. Second, use questions and numbers. Using these figures would net you a higher click and open rate. Third, remain in branding. If your branding includes humor; why not use a humorous approach in your subject line, too?
