How far are you willing to mess with people? The YouTuber we’re going to talk about today is messing with a lot of customers much to the delight of his fans. Meet Niko Omilana, an expert in pretending to be an employee from big companies. He opened his own fake McDonald’s; and many have fallen victim.
Who’s Niko?
Niko Omilana is an English YouTuber popular for his pranks and parody videos. He rose to popularity after he uploaded a parody of Drake and Future’s “Jumpman”. He is also part of the Beta Squad, a home-based reality project.
Did you know that he previously worked at Buzzfeed?
Not McDonald’s
Niko previously pretended to be an employee from McDonald’s. He took (and deliberately mess with) people’s orders. This gained him an expected number of angry customers.
He took it a step further though. Just some weeks after, he partnered with local business, Andy’s Bangin’ Burgers.
He bought all the business’ stock for the day and promised to pay the employees’ wages for the day. Niko bought genuine packaging and edited it to fit their off-branding. The business storefront was remodeled and named “Not McDonald’s”.
Curious people began showing at the storefront to check out the buzz. As social media platforms document the event, more people began showing up. The shelves were quickly emptied soon after. After the sold-out event, they began redirecting hungry people to a small local business.
Aftermath
The video was viewed over 4.7 million times and 292K likes in just a week. Many also speculate what will happen when content creators begin pranking big restaurant chains in the future. Follow him on Twitter and subscribe to his YouTube channel to get more updates about his latest antics.
