Hailey Brooke McFadden has always been making power moves, both on the court and in the office. Throughout her collegiate years, McFadden played competitive volleyball for Wake Forest University while receiving her degree in communications with a film minor. After graduating early last spring, McFadden discovered a calling that kept her at Wake Forest for another year and now has already earned her a six-figure salary. The end of her volleyball career would prove to be the beginning of something much bigger.
McFadden shifted from the mindset of an athlete to the mindset of a businesswoman while maintaining her passion for competition. After turning down an opportunity to continue her volleyball career at another school, McFadden went on to grad school at Wake Forest University and completed the one-year Master of Science in Management program. Though she already had a degree in communications, McFadden was hungry for more – she was eager to make connections between what she already knew and what she would learn in the corporate world.
Her liberal arts education would prove to be extremely beneficial to her time as a business student. Throughout her management studies, McFadden noticed that many small businesses and startups were in need of marketing assistance. She started running social media accounts for companies, and that evolved into launching email campaigns, running ads, creating content, and much more. Spikes in revenue began to excite her just as much as winning a match. She also worked with Wake Forest’s football program to market their new facilities, even getting the chance to flaunt her film skills when she shot drone footage of the Sutton Sports Performance Center. Her prior studies would frequently come into play, as her business endeavors often required effective communication and a creative eye.
By the time she finished grad school, Hailey Brooke McFadden had made the biggest power move of all time – she had established her own company. Power Move Marketing is a full service digital marketing agency that offers a unique array of services. McFadden’s company essentially acts as the CMO for smaller businesses – it aims to make every aspect of a business cohesive and efficient. Power Move Marketing’s typical customer is a business that is less than 10 years old and utilizes an online commerce platform like Shopify. The agency aids these businesses in taking their social media, advertisements, emails, and other marketing tools to the next level.
Since its launch in May 2020, Power Move Marketing has been as successful as ever. Ironically, e-commerce has spiked significantly since the beginning of the pandemic, and McFadden says the digital marketing space has been booming. Run by an all-female staff, Power Move has hired one full-time employee, three paid part-time employees and 17 interns, all working remotely and providing valuable female perspectives. With pink themes accenting the website and logo, McFadden says her feminine theme is intentional – after years of providing ‘a woman’s touch’ in a man’s world, Hailey Brooke McFadden strives to show women that they not only bring value to the table… they deserve a seat at the table.
Though she’s no longer on the volleyball court, McFadden and her team are still making power moves everyday. And luckily, her love for competition is still as strong as ever.
