Are you sitting at home wondering where the best place is to buy furniture online? Are you getting overwhelmed by the tons of online furniture retailers that are all selling variations of the same item? Are you sick of finally picking one, only to realise you’ve overspent for the quality? Are you after a retailer that goes above and beyond for you, as well as the planet? Well look no further because we’ve just discovered Interie – And. We. Are. In. Love.
Primarily focused on nursery and children’s furniture, Interie have created a catalogue of quality designer-look furniture, all without the hefty price tag nor leaving behind an immense carbon footprint. To do this, Interie take a different approach to furniture giants, by creating made-to-order pieces to cut down on over-stocked warehouses and reducing their carbon footprint in terms of logistical transport. Interie pride themselves on being able to do this by working alongside leading manufacturers based in Europe. For Interie the criteria throughout this process wasn’t simply quality materials, craftmanship and originality, but something more. Interie founder, James Curtis, was adamant that the company only work with manufacturers that upheld all of their values, and that meant finding those focused upon high-quality products and eliminating as much carbon emissions as possible. After an extensive sourcing process, Interie have partnered with Czech Republic based manufacturer Benlemi, and Vox located in Poland.
In partnering with Benlemi, Interie have been able to incorporate environmental consciousness throughout their entire operation. During production, every single piece of waste is separated, and recyclable paper is used to package items. Every piece is all made from responsibly sourced pine and spruce wood, which make for sturdy and stable furniture. Looking after our environment is so important to Interie that they go a step further than just working with sustainable manufacturers. Interie manage their own UK-based warehouse, where each piece undergoes a quality control checking system, and are distributed by their own trained team who handle the delivery process, ensuring that your furniture arrives in the most efficient way possible.
Being environmentally conscious is not all Interie excel at however. The company goes above and beyond in its sourcing of children’s furniture, by working with a multidisciplinary team. The design teams of their suppliers liaise with psychologists, ethnographers and sociologists. Interie ensures that through their partnership with Vox, each of their pieces are not only beautifully crafted, but also impressively functional. What makes the furniture design even more impressive is that they are centred upon the Montessori method of education that focuses upon self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. One look at Interie’s signature house beds confirms this beyond a doubt.
Interie have set themselves apart by ensuring their furniture are not your typical off-the-shelf Scandinavian designs. In creating made to order, and somewhat customisable quality and sustainably made pieces Interie have made it beyond clear that they are all about quality and unique designer pieces at affordable prices.
