America is being plagued by two types of virus: Coronavirus and Racism. Protests have been raging in some parts of the country due to the untimely deaths from the members of the black community. This teenager is aiming to raise awareness on the Black Lives Matter Movement through her clothing line.

Who’s behind this clothing line?

She may not have reached the legal age yet, but she’s making waves in terms of fighting back systemic racism. Meet India Alston, a 13-year-old entrepreneur who started her own clothing line.

Across her shirt, the lines “You can take off your uniform but I can’t take off the color of my skin” are sprawled over it. Despite being a 13-year-old, India has been voicing her racially conscious ideas to people. Her drive to fight racism back was sparked by the unlawful death of George Floyd in the hands of Minneapolis Police, she tells ABC:

“Definitely seeing the video of George Floyd getting choked to death and having a police officer kneel on his neck like he’s an animal and seeing all the protests and looting. I feel like this is a great time to say something – this problem is so big,”

Getting A Big Celebrity to Endorse Her Line

India’s dad has been Will Smith’s long-time bodyguard. Because of this, she got one big movie star to endorse her clothing line. Charlie Mack Aslton, India’s dad, fully supports his daughter’s fight for racism. He said:

“At the age that she’s at we are shocked by the things she says. So from that point I’m always listening intently for things that she’ll say,”

When asked about her stand, India says that their skin color is just a color. It’s not a weapon. Her shirts sell for $20 on this website. The profits from her sales will be donated to Inspiring Minds. It is a non-profit organization that aims to help children of color.
